2022 The Year to SHIFT our FOCUS!

To the finer details of life. I will be sharing some photos of a shoot I did while trying to forget what is going on in our world today. I am blessed to live so close to such a wonderful place the Florida Botanical Gardens https://www.flbgfoundation.org/

As I slow down and focus on what really is important to me I will share with you some ways to open your mind and shift your sights on some of Mother Nature's gifts. I invite you to take this stroll through the gardens with me today. Are you ready lets go! I captured the dew just resting on the leaf its intriguing how the sun light reflects through these tiny little water drops that look like a glass globe. These little dew drop have a very important job to do to help this plant. It reduces transpiration (the release of water into the atmosphere through the pores in the plant's leaves). Dew also creates a protective barrier so transpiration will not occur til the dew evaporates.

I love the way the sun reflection was captured in this image. I always went through life at the speed of light never slowing down to appreciate natures wonders. I was using a macro lens and a tripod. One thing this type of photography taught me was Patients!!! LOL . The weather was beautiful with a cool crisp feel to the air, the wind was gentle and the slightest of movement would make my photo out of focus.

If you see any photos you would like let me know and I will send you the file. You can print them save them frame them or set them as your new wall paper. The only thing I ask is that you simply enjoy them.

Flowers, Flowers and more Flowers

Florida Botanical Gardens is beautiful any time of year. Did you know they have Yoga classes and boot camp in the gardens check out their events calendar. https://www.flbgfoundation.org/content.aspx?page_id=4001&club_id=479557&action=cira&vd=1/26/2022

What is your favorite flower? Why? Send me an email with your answer.

My favorite flower is a Rose any rose I love them all. There are over 150 species and thousands of hybrids. Dr. Huey and The Lady Rose were some of the first rose bushes I had the pleasure of having in my yard. Rosa 'Diana, Princess of Whales' was a rose introduced in 1998 at the British Embassy in the United States. Fun Fact!

Why: My Great Grandmother's name was Rose, I also took her name for my confirmation name. She always had a rose sent to her I don't know if it was her perfume or her soap but it's always a fond memory for me. She had a beautiful rose garden too. When I smell roses I think of her. My Grandmother (her daughter) always had rose bushes she tended to and therefore fresh cut roses in her home. I guess I took after them. Roses always bring back those memories. I miss them both very much but when I smell roses I know they are with me.

Here is a video I put together with my photographs I took at the Botanical Gardens.

Enjoy!

From Flowers to Forest. I am so excited about the journey I am on right now and I would like to share it with you. I am back in school learning new things again... As I explore my new calling I will keep you up to date.

When I left Glacier National Park last summer the only thought that ran through my head was how can I get back here? I started to research and read. I found Glacier National Park Conservancy https://glacier.org/ I did some of my Christmas shopping in the online store because I know some of the proceeds fund the projects in the park. Then I found out about the book club https://glacier.org/glacier-book-club/ and that is where I purchase my books now too. I was in the zoom book club when I was listening to Florence Williams talk about her book "the Nature Fix" you can purchase here https://shop.glacier.org/the-nature-fix/ She mentioned "Forest Bathing" and then she went into great detail about what it is. A light bulb went off in my head and this voice in my head said this is the answer for you!!!! What ? What who was that?? Yes that is how clear it was. So keep an eye out for my next blog explaining what forest bathing is and how it is my answer! Til next time.
